The Intel eXtensible USB 3.0 host controller driver is not compatible with Windows XP or Windows Vista. This step reconfigures USB 3.0 ports to function as USB 2.0 ports using the native Windows EHCI driver.
Intel USB 3.0 Driver for Windows 8:
Windows 8 has a native USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing an eXtensible USB 3.0 host controller driver specific to Windows 8.
If you are upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 8, uninstall the Intel eXtensible USB 3.0 host driver before you install the update.
